The Seven Chakras: How They Affect our Lives
Our body has an interconnected system of slight margins and currents of life force. These channels of energy are called Chakras in the Indian system of medicine. This is an invisible power that ebbs and flows within all living things and is the breathing force of creation, sustenance, and destruction.
On the physical level, the chakras have the important role of maintaining the balance of the body. The chakras have effects on the endocrine and neurological systems. When our body receives an energetic impact from someone or something, our brain is stimulated, and this subsequently stimulates the endocrine. These two are the internal directors sustaining control and balance of the body; moreover, they continually align and realign the body as they respond to energetic impacts.
Our chakra has the same atomic structure of our body; our intuition is the best device to develop heightened awareness to detect of our lives.
These are the Seven Chakras as described by Laura Alden Kamm: an authority on Applied Energy Medicine.
The First Chakra: the Tailbone
This chakra is focused on survival and safety: earth, family, body and other structural aspects of life are all parts of this chakra. Tribal mentality comes into play with the context of survival; family creates this structure as a means to survive in this world. Insecurities are born in the first chakra, conforming to the norm to the norm of society in order to feel safe or included.
This chakra is the basis on all other chakras; it influences the immune system, legs, tailbone, colon, prostate, perineum and other tissues related to this area. This chakra is body level consciousness, fears worries and concerns attached to the physical world; thus, releasing detrimental attachments to societal conditions is essential in order to achieve higher consciousness.
The Second Chakra: Abdominal Area
The 3 dimensional realities are manifested in this chakra; any type of relationships is governed by this chakra. The reproductive organs, the pelvic structures and all other tissues near the area belong to this chakra. Many disorders and diseases, both physical and emotional, arise from conflicted perceptions of this chakra. Such imbalances include addictive and rebellious behavior, dysfunctional sexual attitudes that may lead to revenge and hatred.
Recognize that we have limitations as long as we are acting through this body; and that we are taught by our parents the perfectionist view of the world; thus, it is shameful to fail. We have to accept that it is not shameful to surrender to a higher power.
The Third Chakra: Solar Plexus and the Stomach Area
This chakra governs our self – concept that relates to self – esteem, self – worth, self – confidence, and feelings of empowerment. The stomach, liver, gall bladder, pancreas, kidneys, adrenal glands, and other skeletal and tissues in the midsection area belong to this chakra. This also directs our immune system; consequently, negative energy can compromise the lymphatic and immune systems. Getting offended, being rejected drains you out of this energy.
Facing your fear and overcoming it is the best way to restore the aspect of self – worth.
The Fourth Chakra: Center of the Thoracic Region
This is known as the heart chakra; the chakra that bridges the first to third chakras and fifth to seventh chakra. This chakra governs the lungs, ribs, thymus gland, and the heart. By using this chakra, we can sense how long we will live on this earth because this rules the difficulties and joys we are experiencing. Furthermore, it tells us what direction to take in life.
We need to take time to listen to the voices at this chakra in order for unconditional love to flow freely. Loving and giving joyously to ourselves as well as to others allow us to avoid resentments. In order to give to others, it’s necessary to give the things we need.
Loving God, ourselves, and others in an honoring and compassionate way will open this chakra allowing us to experience bliss, compassion, and satisfaction in life.
The Fifth Chakra: Throat
This chakra allows us communication of truth to ourselves as others. This chakra is ruled by thyroid, parathyroid, esophagus, larynx, pharynx, nose, and sinuses; mouth, teeth, salivary glands, and upper section of the gastrointestinal tract.
In order to achieve healthy fifth chakra, we must bring balance to our communication and behavioral patterns by always telling the truth to ourselves and others.
The Sixth Chakra: Forehead region
This chakra is also known as the third eye; it governs the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, eyes, upper sinus tract and other matters in the head region. This is the place of empty wisdom also known as intuition because in this center is the place of neutrality and empty, nonattached wisdom exist.
The benefits of developing this chakra are accuracy, impartiality and intuitive perception. Thus, unleashing the power of the will helps us develop our intellect and extra sensory perception.
The Seventh Chakra: Crown of the Head
The Omnipresent Power of God comes from this chakra for this governs our Divine Wisdom for this is the seat of the soul: the pineal gland. Medical issues like anxiety, nervous system disorders, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, and other mental illnesses, this happens because there are separations from one’s spirituality and physical nature.
Connecting to the seventh chakra can lead you to pure rapture, unity, and bliss. We will feel the purity of our being. By opening this chakra too helps us communicate with other beings.

raciniwa-this is one of the best explanations of the chakras that I've read. I'm so glad you included the meditation exercise as well. I used to do energy healing which was working with the energy/balancing the chakras. It is so important and so many westerners are unaware or poorly informed.
I found your hub very helpful and rated it up and across (minus funny). Great list of books you've included as well.
Great hub, the vid was very nice, I'm definitely going to be meditating a whole lot better now that i know where to focus my thoughts and all, thanks for posting it up, looking forward to more

Hi Raciniwa,
Such a pleasure to read your insight into the 7 chakras. I have written a hub on a similar topic. Would love your insight.
Raci.. a very interesting and useful Hub.. thank you for sharing it Frank :)
I am familiar with the chakras when I started learning about healing. I loved how you wrote this. It's easy to understand and to follow. As I read through this again, I am re-learning what I know and having a grand time. Thanks so much :)
I finally had the opportunity to read this hub on Chakras. It is well written and informative. I studied TM long ago, and Chakras have been a topic of interest to me for many years. Thanks for sharing. Voted up.

A great take on the body cycle the Indian way! Thank you for this wonderful hub Raci!
up and shared!
Back for more inspiration... I am printing it out. Sometimes I can digest more this way. Do you think we get stuck at a particular level and our life's lesson is to work it through, before moving on? Or do you think we can work on various improvements simultaneously? Thanks again!
@raciniwa : Thanks for sharing nice information about all The Seven Chakras and their effect. I do not know much before reading your HP so I have understand each and every thing about Chakra. Voting Up and following you !
